BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – As temperatures climbed Saturday, emergency crews spent a good portion of the day dealing with burst water pipes around the region.
Dozens of people were affected after a pipe burst at an apartment building at 364 Broadway in Lawrence Saturday morning. Power was shut off to the building. The American Red Cross said they were supporting about 35 people who were not able to return to their homes.
Another pipe burst in the emergency department of South Shore Hospital Saturday afternoon. A hospital spokesperson said no patients were affected and water was shut off.
The Everett Police department also experienced a broken water pipe. About an inch of water had collected on the floor. Officers said they had to unplug a few computers. There were no evacuations.
On Friday, a pipe burst in the ceiling of the Prudential Center mall, causing water to spill into some stores.
