Manner: Edward Brian "Ballonhead" Halloran was shot to death after he got into a car driven by Michael Donahue in Boston's seaport. Witnesses testified that Halloran was giving the FBI information on Bulger's Winter Hill Gang. He was put under the protection of the FBI, but the FBI decided to cut him loose to give him a "reality check" after he waffled on his cooperation. Kevin Weeks testified that Bulger fatally shot Halloran so many times that his body was "bouncing" off the ground. A forensic expert said Halloran suffered approximately 20 through and through gunshot wounds and died from blood loss.
