Drug lab latest: 11 defendants set free

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – Nearly a dozen more defendants have been set free as the fallout from the state drug lab scandal continues.

All of the defendants were in jail and awaiting trial on drug charges in Suffolk County.

Suffolk County judges decided to release some of them or drastically reduce their bail because the evidence in their cases may have been compromised.

The evidence was allegedly analyzed by former state drug lab chemist Annie Dookhan, who is at the center of the investigation.

Last week, a judge in Norfolk County released a man on drug charges after it was found his evidence was also analyzed by Dookhan. She is accused of mishandling drug samples for nearly 34,000 cases at the state's drug lab since 2003.
