Drug bust in Quincy, Dedham leads to five arrests

QUINCY, Mass. — Five people have been arrested after an investigation led police to fentanyl and other drugs at residences in Quincy and Dedham.

Throughout October and November, Quincy police investigated fentanyl distribution in the city. Police focused in on two individuals: 24-year-old Giovanni Bautista of Quincy and 18-year-old Justin Reyes of Dedham after learning they were using two cars to distribute drugs.

On Nov. 14, authorities executed a search warrant at Bautista's Copeland Street apartment. There, they seized 57 grams of fentanyl, 33 grams of cocaine, over $2,600 cash and prescription medications (suboxone, clonazepam and alprazolam. They also seized drug sale and distribution paraphernalia.

Police say Bautista's 3-month-old was found inside the home and DCF was contacted.

Detectives then went to Dedham to execute a search warrant at Reyes' Rockland Street home. Dedham police seized fentanyl, packaging materials, $4,500 cash and a gun.

Bautista and Reyes were arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl, trafficking cocaine, possession to distribute suboxone subsequent offense, two counts of possession to distribute clonazepam and alprazolam and conspiracy to violate drug control laws. Bautista was also charged with reckless endangerment of a child.

Jennie Rodriguez, 28, of the Copeland Street home was also arrested and charged with the same offenses as Bautista.

Two others, 27-year-old Luis Bautista of Stanley Street in Boston and 22-year-old Christian Marrero-Santana of Bernard Street in Boston, were also arrested and charged.
