Driver in Chatham bus stop death arraigned

BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) - A Cambridge man charged with striking and killing a man waiting for a bus in Chatham, then causing an accident that injured four people in another vehicle, has pleaded not guilty to charges including motor vehicle homicide and drunken driving.

reports that Benjamin Shealey entered his plea Wednesday Barnstable Superior Court. He was held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Tuesday.

The 32-year-old Shealey previously pleaded not guilty in district court.

Police say Shealey was fleeing Harwich police July 13 when he struck a 62-year-old man at a Chatham bus stop. He then struck the car, sending a family of four, including two 9-year-old girls, to the hospital.

His lawyer has said Shealey has mental health issues and doesn't remember what happened.
