Driver hits teen on scooter, crashes into house

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A driver accused of hitting a teenager riding a scooter was arrested after crashing his car into a Jamaica Plain home Wednesday.

The unidentified 15-year-old victim was riding a scooter at about 8 p.m. near Kingsdale and Standish streets in Dorchester when he was hit.

Police said the driver, identified as Manuel Alfonseca, 32, took off from the scene and police chased him until he crashed into a home on Glenside Avenue in Jamaica Plain. He tried to run away, but police caught him.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's office said the victim is expected to survive.

Alfonseca was arraigned Thursday in Dorchester Municipal Court on charges of and ordered held on $10,000 bail. He is charged with leaving the scene of a collision causing personal injury, leaving the scene of a collision causing property damage, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license as a subsequent offense.

Alfonseca has a history of driving infractions and previous convictions. In 2010, he was convicted of operating without a license in 2010.  According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, he has served different amounts of jail time over the years for breaking and entering, possessing a firearm, reckless operation, and drug distribution.
