Driver charged in fatal Taunton crash

The driver of a car involved in a fatal crash in Taunton early Sunday morning has been charged in the deaths of two of his passengers.

Nicholas Costa, 24, was charged with two counts of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, operation after suspension of operator's license and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Jason Neto and Eden Macedo, both 18, died following the crash.

Police said Costa was driving Macedo's father's two-door Honda Accord when it swerved onto the wrong side of Bay Street and slammed into a tree.

Police had to rip the roof of the car off to reach Costa and the five passengers.
