Domestic assault call leads to Hyannis pot bust

Police in Barnstable said a domestic assault call led to a pot bust Sunday.

Police said they received a call at about 5 a.m. that a woman was screaming for help in front of 119 Maple Street in Hyannis. When police arrived they said the woman told them she had been assaulted by her boyfriend.

Police found the boyfriend, identified as Dustin Johnson, along with another man inside the home. Johnson was immediately arrested.

Police then asked the other man, identified as Matthew Creswell, if anyone else was in the home or had been assaulted. Police said Creswell allowed them to search the home.

When police went into the basement, they said they found a marijuana grow room that had special electrical utilities, lighting and venting along with 20 pot plants from six inches to four feet tall.

Creswell told police that the grow operation was his. He was arrested and charged with manufacturing a class D substance and possession with intent to distribute a class D substance.

Johnson was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, indecent assault and battery and assault and battery domestic violence.

Both were released on bail.
