Doggie day care where bulldog died reopens

A doggie day care in Weymouth has reopened, less than two weeks after a bulldog died there.

The Patriot Ledger reports that Land of Pawz reopened Thursday following a license suspension for sanitary violations.

According to the paper, Weymouth's public health director said the facility had corrected all violations and made significant improvements.

"We've had several meetings with the mayor, the animal control officer and the town attorney. We all made the decision that we couldn't keep him closed," Daniel McCormack told the Patriot Ledger.

Earlier in September, Guy Reynolds said he left his dog Cooper at Land of Pawz because his normal day care facility was closed for a few days.

Reynolds said that when he went back to the facility Cooper was laying unconscious in the yard under a blanket. A South Shore veterinarian said the dog had died from heat exhaustion.

Reynolds said he was planning to file a lawsuit against the business.
