Document: Bulger wants to keep Stanley Cup ring

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A piece of sports history is excluded from a list of assets belonging to James "Whitey" Bulger that the court will be left to decide the fate of at the conclusion of his trial.

In a document filed Monday and signed by Bulger, the reputed mob boss waived his right for the jury to determine the forfeitability of his assets. The assets include over $820,000, firearms, jewelry, electronics, art, furniture, and other personal effects.

The document notes that the parties involved in the trial have agreed to exclude a Stanley Cup ring, which Bulger claims was a gift from an unnamed third-party.

While the government is currently not seeking the forfeiture of the ring, they could request Bulger turn it over at a later date.

The document was filed as jurors continued their fifth day of deliberations in Bulger's racketeering trial.
