'Devin's Dash 5K' to benefit 6-year-old Devin Suau

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — A community will gather Sunday morning to raise money for Devin Suau, a 6-year-old boy diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

One thousand runners, including Devin’s mother, will gather in Framingham for the first annual Devin’s Dash 5K.

The race, which will take place at Walsh Middle School, will take place at Walsh Middle School. The entry into the race was $30, and the money will go to supporting Devin and his treatment.

Devin was first diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer while in kindergarten, but that hasn’t stopped him from smiling.

In March, a police motorcade picked Devin and his family up, and Framingham police swore Devin in as chief for the day.

Most recently Devin was in London where he underwent brain surgery and started chemotherapy. Devin’s mother told Boston 25 News that when he was diagnosed in January, doctors gave him two years to live. She said that while his prognosis hasn’t changed, there is hope that the chemotherapy can shrink the tumor and seeking treatment overseas was the only option they had left.

The rarity of the cancer inspired #WhyNotDevin, with Devin and his family believing that someone has to be the first to beat it, so why not him?

Registration for the race begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m.

There’s also a kids fun run, which starts around 10:30 a.m.

And while all the running spots are filled, walkers are welcome.

There will also be games, raffles and food trucks. Donations are welcome to support Devin and his fight.
