Detectives investigating after fight at Baseball Tavern leaves 1 in critical condition

BOSTON — Detectives are looking into a violent bar fight that left a man in critical condition.

It happened at Baseball Tavern Saturday night after a Red Sox vs Yankees game.

Witnesses tell FOX25 there was a very large response.

“There were at least six or seven cruisers out here,” Rich Belew said.

FOX25 has learned one man is now in critical condition at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

“When they pulled the kid out, he didn't look good. It was a bunch of cops around him. We didn't really get to see the kid, but he didn't look like he was OK,” Belew said.

Sources tell FOX25 that homicide detectives are trying to figure out if a bar employee is to blame for this.

“The kid got pushed down the stairs by somebody. Apparently someone picked him up and carried him outside,” Belew said.

As police are trying to piece this together, the victim's friend is reaching out on social media.

"Did you see who threw him off the stairs? Like was it someone who worked there did you notice,” a tweet said.

Another person tweeted “baseball tavern looked like a massacre happened.”

Bar patrons in the area just want to know who is to blame.

“It was really busy. We always get busy for the Red Sox games. It was even worse because they were at capacity. And when the kid was coming out it was not a good look,” Belew said.

The attorney for Baseball Tavern sent FOX25 a statement saying they were disheartened to learn what happened and are conducting their own investigation.
