Details of Revis deal revealed

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The Patriots signed cornerback Darrelle Revis Wednesday night.

The team lost Aqib Talib to the rival Broncos in a late-night deal Tuesday, causing a vocal fan base to seemingly scream in unison for the team to do something. On Wednesday night, they did just that by signing the best player on the market, Darrelle Revis.

According to NFL.com, Revis agreed to what amounts to a one-year deal with New England. He'll get $12 million in 2014 and the team has a $20 million option for the following year.

Revis signed with the team just hours after he was released by the Bucs.

The deal is dependent on Revis passing a physical.

Revis, 28, spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Jets before heading to Tampa last season, and is considered by many to be the very best defensive player in football.
