Despite shutdown, NFL announces playoffs will air overseas for deployed troops

The government shut down Friday night, and that has meant a lot of fallout - including unpaid employees and offices shutting down.

Saturday, deployed troops learned that 'Armed Forces Network' was taken off the air.

That's the network troops use to watch American television, including NFL playoffs.

Sergeant Matt Connolly, who is currently serving in South Korea, said watching the games is a comforting piece of home.

"It's kind of the only thing we can do for fun over here," Connolly told Boston 25 News.

Sunday morning, the NFL announced that AFN will air Sunday's AFC and NFC Championship games.
