Department of Defense investigating death of Mass. soldier in Iraq

BOSTON — The Department of Defense announced Tuesday that a solider from Massachusetts has died in Iraq.

Army Pfc. Brian P. Odiorne, 21, of Ware, died Monday in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, from a non-combat related incident while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

That incident, the Department of Defense said, is under investigation.

Odiorne was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Foot Hood, Texas.

No other information was released.
