Dentist facing child porn charges allowed to work with kids while out on bail

FRAMINGHAM (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A judge ruled that a Framingham pediatric dentist facing child pornography charges can work with children while he is out on bail.

Melvin Ehrlich, 52, of Millis, was released on $10,000 cash bail Thursday. Ehrlich was arraigned on charges that include possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography following an investigation by local, state, and federal authorities.

Ehrlich reportedly sent his laptop to a service provider for maintenance. While working on the computer, a service provider reportedly found downloaded images of child pornography and contacted the police.

Investigators accuse Ehlrich of using his laptop under various names to download and distribute commercially traded child pornography images. Data recovered from the computer during the investigation was sent to and confirmed to be commercially traded child pornography by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Ehrlich is a pediatric dentist who operates a business called Wee Care for Kids in Framingham.

The case is under investigation; however, there is currently no evidence that presently leads law enforcement to believe that Ehrlich physically abused any children or manufactured any images of child pornography.

A judge ordered Ehlrich to refrain from using a computer except for work purposes.
