BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – An attorney for the man accused in the murder of a South Boston woman says his client has a "significant history of psychiatric hospitalizations."
Edwin Alemany, 28, will be charged with first-degree murder in the brutal killing of Amy Lord. Alemany is currently being evaluated at Bridgewater State Hospital.
Alemany's defense lawyer, Jeffrey Denner, told FOX 25 on Saturday that his client has mental issues. In The Boston Globe Tuesday, Denner stopped short of saying whether he would use insanity as a defense.
Alemany is accused of kidnapping Lord from her apartment, making her withdraw money from five separate ATMs, then stabbing her and dumping her body in Hyde Park. He's also accused of assaulting two other women in the same 24-hour period.
Alemany is scheduled to be arraigned on the murder charge on Aug. 14.
