DEA discovers more than $6 million of marijuana in Clinton warehouse

CLINTON, Mass. – A mustard-colored warehouse in Clinton may not be something most people would bat an eye at, but what was hidden inside drew the attention of local and federal law enforcement.

Police said they confiscated more than 1,000 marijuana plants.

Police officer Jeffrey O’Toole told Boston 25 News the grow operation was sophisticated, with lighting, air circulation, irrigation and plant food.

“There were several rooms of these plants in all different stages of growth,” O’Toole said.

The Drug Enforcement Agency raided the warehouse at 843 Main St. Tuesday morning, and by the time it was all said and done they had taken marijuana worth an estimated $6 million on the street.

“What we need to keep doing is just continue to fight the drug epidemic,” Chairman of the Clinton Board of Selectmen Dave Sargent said.

Sean Matt, 29, of Worcester and Thomas Laverty, 37, of Clinton, were both arrested.

The two suspects appeared in Clinton District Court Wednesday morning on charges include trafficking in marijuana over 50 pounds.
