Dane Cook criticized for his decision to pull set from Boston Strong stream

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Comedian and actor Dane Cook is being criticized for his decision to pull his set from the Boston Strong Concert Thursday night at TD Garden.

The concert was not televised, but was streamed live online until Cook came up for his standup performance.

Cook requested it be taken off the stream and later explained why in the following Tweet, which created a firestorm:

"Hey everyone sorry my set was not a part of the live stream or televised! I didn't want any of the new material to hit the airwaves yet!" Cook Tweeted.

No one outside of the Garden saw the set.

More than 17,000 turned out to see the concert in person, but thousands more who tried to watch the live stream ended up disappointed. There were technical delays on and off for about the first two hours.

"Nearly half a million people logged on to view the beginning of the show which lead to bandwidth related issues," promoter Live Nation said in a statement Friday morning.

People inside TD Garden had to wait until almost midnight, but Aerosmith did take the stage for an emotional performance. James Taylor, New Kids on the Block and Jimmy Buffet all joined in.

Hundreds of those injured in the attack, along with first responders, sat in the first few rows.

All proceeds from the night are going to The One Fund.
