DA: Youth baseball coach asked player to take nude photos

BOSTON (AP) - A Boston youth baseball coach has pleaded not guilty to charges he had been "grooming" an underage boy for sex.

Forty-one-year-old Jose Ortega was arraigned Monday in West Roxbury Municipal Court on charges of enticing a child, unnatural and lascivious acts with a child and attempting to pose a child in a state of nudity.

A prosecutor said Ortega invited the boy to join his team, and then enticed him in person, by phone and Facebook messages. Ortega allegedly asked the boy to have sex in his van, shower at his house and send sexual pictures of himself. Prosecutors said they are reviewing similar complaints from others.

Ortega's lawyer says his client denies the allegations.

A judge set bail at $50,000 cash and ordered Ortega to avoid children, wear a GPS monitor and surrender his passport.
