TAUNTON, Mass. — A freight train derailed in Taunton Wednesday morning, causing a hazardous materials spill, according to the Taunton Fired Department.
Shortly before 8 a.m., fire officials say they were alerted to the derailment of a CSX train engine near Mozzone Boulevard.
Only crew members were on the train and there were no reported injuries.
The front engine's derailment led to a leak of about 1,800 gallons of fuel. The rest of the train, carrying a variety of cargo, remained on the tracks, fire officials said.
The Taunton Fire Department and Hazmat teams were working to contain the spill Wednesday morning.
