Crews respond to water main break in Boston's South End

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A water main break caused water to spill into the intersection of Mass. Ave and Tremont Street in Boston Monday.

The break occurred at about 3:45 a.m. A large hole could be seen in the road and water was gushing up to 3 feet into the air.

Boston Water and Sewer were called in to shut off the water. The outbound lane of Tremont Street remained closed to traffic Monday morning.

Six nearby buildings were left without water as a result of the break.

There is currently no word on what caused the break or how long it will take to fix it.
