BOSTON — It's a sign of the season -- potholes popping up on roads around the state.
Friday, crews will hit the road to start filling in the problem.
From December 1 to this week, there were just over 2,400 potholes reported. Compared to last winter, that's a little more than 1,800 additional potholes in the roads this year.
The reason for the difference is the weather -- we barely got any snow last year.

Boston Public Works plans to spend about $110,000 on pothole repairs just this winter. More than 10 crews will be out Friday working to patch up the potholes on Boston streets.
