Fire crews tell FOX25 the fire began in an abandoned building. Six buildings were damaged, and three of those buildings were multi-family homes.
One resident, Katherine Quevedo, said she's alive thanks to her neighbors.
"I didn't hear anything, I was sleeping," Quevedo said. She said she was finally woken up after hearing neighbors banging on her door.
At least 25 people made it out of the homes safely. The three injured firefighters are expected to be okay.
No further information was immediately available. A FOX25 crew is headed to the scene.
