Crash kills passenger, injures driver in Wareham

WAREHAM (AP) - Police in Wareham say a passenger is dead from a single-vehicle crash that also left the driver with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday near a home on Charge Pond Road. Police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians who responded to the scene found the vehicle on its side with extensive damage.

Front-seat passenger Jordan Lopes of Wareham was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 20 years old. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Jonathan Lydon of Wareham, was taken to Tobey Hospital for treatment.

Wareham and state police experts are investigating.
