2 people seriously injured in Dedham I-95 crash

DEDHAM, Mass. — Two lanes of I-95 northbound were shut down in Dedham after a crash Monday morning, according to Mass. State Police.

State Police said preliminary investigation shows that a MassDOT employee driving a DOT 2016 Ford pickup responded to a report of debris on the highway shortly before noon.

The DOT truck was pulling into the left breakdown lane and two cars behind the truck slowed down, including a 2007 Cadillac STS. Another car behind those vehicles, a 2000 Chevrolet van driven by a 37-year-old Canton man, swerved to the left to try to avoid the slowing vehicles in front of him.

The Chevrolet van ended up rear ending the Cadillac, driven by a 26-year-old Brockton woman. The van then flipped and hit the DOT pickup.

"I almost lost my dad today because someone couldn't pull over.  Somebody was speeding not paying attention," said Zack Taylor.

Zack's father, 53-year-old David Taylor is a state highway worker. He was taken to the hospital with injuries to his pelvis, arms and legs.

State Police said the DOT employee was either getting out or getting in the truck when the van hit the pickup.

The van driver was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter with serious injuries. The Brockton woman was also taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

"It's tragic my dad has to be the lesson, the lesson is if you don't pay attention and follow the law and pull over for the stopped emergency vehicles, somebody could lose their father. I could have lost my dad, my mom could have lost her husband," said Taylor.

Sky25 flew over the scene shortly after noon Tuesday.
