Crash in Westford briefly shuts down I-495 Sunday

WESTFORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Traffic in both directions on I-495 was stopped briefly as a MedFlight helicopter came to land on the highway responding to a rollover crash.

The crash happened on the northbound side of the highway near Exit 31 in Littleton just before 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, according to Massachusetts State Police. One person was taken to the hospital by MedFlight to be treated for injuries, though troopers did not state if there were others in the vehicle, a dark-colored SUV.

At around 5 p.m., the breakdown and right travel lanes on I-495 northbound were reopened, though the middle and left lanes remained closed for the crash investigation. All northbound lanes were reopened at around 5:20 p.m. Sunday.

Police did not release the victim's condition.
