Couple ties the knot in Pokemon themed wedding

WILMINGTON, Mass. — Surrounded by Pokemon and comic characters, a bride and groom adorned in Pokemon cosplay costumes tied the knot at the Northeast Comic Con Saturday.

Doug Engler of East Bridgewater, and Leann Wetherby of Plattsburgh, New York, met in 2013 at Bakurestu Con in Colchester, Vermont. Doug was impressed with Leann's handmade full fur Pokemon suits.

"We became friends. And about a year later, we fell in love playing Minecraft," said Doug.

Surrounded by they're parents, friends and family, the two stood up on a small stage and said their I dos in front of a large crowd.

"Now the hard part - sharing a PokeBall. How much room is there in that thing," said the officiant.

They acknowledged it was not a conventional wedding, but said it was perfect for them.

"Being able to share our day with the type of people we like to be around...it just felt like the right place to do it," said Doug.

Chase Masterson, who played "Leeta" on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, was at the event and said weddings are pretty common at Comic Cons.

Doug and Leann said they don't have a honeymoon set quite yet, but hope to go to Japan.
