OXFORD (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A couple died in an early morning crash Saturday after hitting a telephone pole on Route 12 in Oxford.
Tyler Menard, 26, and Amanda Riopel, 21, both of Oxford, were traveling southbound on Route 12 near Sunset Avenue just before 2:30 a.m. when their 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt veered off the road and hit a telephone pole near 123 Main Street. The force of the collision snapped the telephone pole at its base.
Both Menard and Riopel did not survive the crash.
Family and friends who left flowers and candles at the scene of the crash on Saturday afternoon tell FOX 25 the couple had a 2-year-old son together.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
