• Cops: Teen attack on woman linked to chicken death

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (AP) - Attleboro police say a 15-year-old boy's alleged attack on his 63-year-old neighbor is linked to the killing of one of the woman's chickens.

The Sun Chronicle reports Monday a search warrant affidavit says the teen told Paula McMurrough he wasn't responsible for killing her chicken while he did yard work last summer.

The affidavit said McMurrough was reading in bed Wednesday when the teen taped her ankles and wrists and dragged her to another room. Police said the woman was kicked and stabbed in the neck during the incident and is recovering from serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The boy drove her to a pond and pushed her in, but then helped her out of the water and left her with the car in another location.

He was arraigned in juvenile court on charges including attempted murder.
