SOUTH YARMOUTH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A convicted felon wanted on seven warrants from the Waltham and Barnstable District Courts was arrested on Monday in West Dennis after leading police on a chase through several quiet neighborhoods.
Police spotted Robert M. Silva around 2:27 p.m. getting into a white mini-van on South Shore Drive in South Yarmouth. Silva drove off in the van heading westbound on South Shore Drive and was pursued by police.
The officer activated his cruiser lights and siren on nearby McKenzie Road, but Silva refused to stop and drove away at a moderate rate of speed.
Silva continued through quiet neighborhood streets as other police departments came to assist the officer in pursuit of the suspect.
Silva was eventually captured after nearly five miles later as he traveled down a dead end gravel driveway on Fisk Street in West Dennis.
According to police, Silva, who had stolen the mini-van from the garage of an unoccupied home on Shore Side Drive, were able to overcome his resistance and take him into custody.
Silva was transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters where he is being held without bail on the original seven outstanding warrants, as well as a slew of new motor vehicle charges and new charges of burglary and larceny of a motor vehicle. He will be arraigned in the Barnstable District Court on Tuesday.
