Convicted child killer Charles Jaynes up for parole

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Fox 25's Bob Ward has learned the Massachusetts Parole Board has set a March 19th parole hearing date for Charles Jaynes, one of two men convicted in the Jeffrey Curley murder case. This is the first time Charles Jaynes has requested parole.

Jaynes was convicted in 1998 on second degree murder and kidnapping charges for the abduction and murder of ten year old Jeffrey Curley of Cambridge.

Last week Robert Curley, Jeffrey's father, received a letter from the Massachusetts Parole Board notifying him of the Jaynes parole hearing date.

Robert Curley plans to attend Jayne's parole hearing.

The murder of Jeffrey Curley is one of the most notorious cases in Massachusetts history. The case brought the state within one vote in the legislature of re-instating the death penalty for the Commonwealth.

Charles Jaynes and Salvatore Sicari were convicted of abducting Jeffrey Curley near his home. When Jeffrey resisted the sexual advances of Charles Jaynes, the child was suffocated to death with a gasoline soaked rag. Jeffrey's body was transported to an apartment in Manchester, NH where it was sodomized. Jeffrey's body was discovered stuffed inside a Rubbermaid container at the bottom of a Maine river.

Salvatore Sicari was convicted of First Degree Murder, and is serving a life no parole sentence.

Recently, Charles Jaynes attempted to legally change his name. That request was denied. Charles Jaynes' attempts to win a new trial have so far proven unsuccessful
