Concord woman accused of drunkenly hitting police cruiser

BOXBOROUGH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A 52-year-old Concord woman is facing OUI charges after hitting a police cruiser in Boxborough on Friday night.

Boxborough Police say Officer Edward Pokornicki was attempting to stop a car on I-495 at about 11:45 p.m. when a 2010 Toyota driven by Mary J. Hayes hit the back of his cruiser. Pokornicki steered the cruiser away in an attempt at avoiding the car in front of him and was propelled off of the road. His cruiser stopped at the wood line.

Pokornicki was transported to Emerson Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released.

Hayes was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation by Mass. State Police.
