Concerts canceled in NH, Quincy after drug overdoses

MANCHESTER, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – The affects from several overdose deaths have lead to the cancellations of two popular concerts.

According to the Union Leader, the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H., has pulled the plug on the rave concert by Barstool Blackout Tour scheduled for Sept. 28.

Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas told the newspaper he and Verizon Wireless Arena discussed the apparent overdose deaths of two New Hampshire college students at concerts in Boston and New York and then made the decision.

All tickets will be refunded.

The Ocean Club in Quincy also canceled a Sept. 20 concert, reports the Boston Globe. The move comes after Mayor Thomas Koch and Quincy Police Chief Paul Keenan urged the club to cancel the last event of the season. Undercover officers arrested eight people at the Marina Bay night club following 12 reported overdoses this summer.
