Clouds break in afternoon, chance of shower remains

From FOX 25 meteorologist Sarah Wroblewski

Good Saturday morning. There are a lot of clouds around with the threat of a passing shower this morning as a weak cold front will be pushing through the area today. Although it looks murky in the morning, the sun will break out in spots as we head into the afternoon as westerly winds will usher in drier air. Clouds may linger a bit more across the south coast, Cape and Islands. Highs will climb into the upper 70s to low 80s.

If you plan to hit the beach, best bet will be in the afternoon, but you'll want to keep an eye to the sky. Despite drier air working in for the afternoon… this weekend will feature a series of disturbances rotating across the area. Although the timing is not completely lining up for widespread showers to develop this afternoon, with enough daytime heating there still may be a pop up shower or storm with any sunshine that does develop as we head into the late afternoon and evening. The chances are about 10 to 15-percent.

The chances are better for a shower or storm Sunday afternoon. After morning sunshine, clouds will bubble up and the threat of a quick downpour is possible any time after noon. Under partly cloudy skies, highs on Sunday will be about a degree or two cooler than today. Don't cancel your plans for the risk of showers, but just be aware of the threat and have a safe place to go if a storm does develop near you.

Have a great weekend and good luck to all those riding or volunteering in the PMC!
