Class ring missing for decades returned 45 years later

LYNN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A class ring that had been missing for decades was returned to the owner 45 years later.

The Daily Item of Lynn reports that Detective Sgt. Kristian Hanson found a 1966 Suffolk University class ring during a drug raid earlier this year at a Salem home.

After investigating, police discovered the ring, which had been missing for more than 40 years, belonged to the 76-year-old Stuart Forbes Richards Jr. Last week, the ring was returned to Richards.

Hanson searched the ring owner's name and found he had been living in the care of Kathie Harris and her husband, David, in Lynn.

Harris told the newspaper Richards believed he would never see the ring again because it had been missing for so long.

Richards and his caretakers are happy the ring was returned.
