Child on YMCA field trip left behind at Watertown trampoline park

MALDEN, Mass. — An investigation is underway after a child on a field trip to Launch Trampoline Park in Watertown Thursday was left behind.

The trip was organized by the Malden YMCA, and CEO Deborah Amaral said it wasn’t until the group returned there that the child’s absence was discovered.

It’s unclear exactly how long the child had been at the park for without a group, but Amaral said when Watertown Police arrived the child was still jumping on a trampoline unaware the group had left.

“What occurred yesterday is unacceptable, and we are both conducting an internal investigation to determine how this occurred and re-evaluating all of our procedures consistent with our commitment to providing the safest environment for children,” Amaral said in a statement. “We have been in touch with the child’s family to express our deep regret over what happened, and we reported this incident to the Mass. Department of Children and Families.”
