Child falls out of window in Medford

MEDFORD, Mass. — Officials in Medford responded to an apartment complex after a child fell out of a window.

Medford Fire Department tells Boston 25 News a child fell out of a window in Medford Saturday afternoon. The incident happened at the Wellington Place apartments on Brainard Avenue. Police say the boy reportedly fell from a third-floor window.

Neighbor Emma Alexandre heard a loud noise and rushed over to find the young boy on the sidewalk.

"It scared me because I didn't know what to do so I picked him up and held him in my arms. He had like blood al over his face," said Alexandre.

He was rushed to the hospital, but police say he is expected to recover. It's a reminder that screens are often easy to push out and won't protect a child from falling.

"It's scary sometimes when your kids are trying to do that and they can fall down, so I wasn't surprised by the accident," said neighbor Sumit Gupta.

Police are investigating, but say they believe this was an accident.
