Chicks stolen from Ashburnham farm

ASHBURNHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A farmer from Ashburnham is calling the theft of his 200 baby chickens "strange."

Keith Kopley tells FOX 25 that a thief took the chicks from his garage last Thursday, but left behind Kopley's power tools and generator valued at $1,000.

Kopley says the chicks may have been stolen by someone looking to rescue them. He says he wrote a Facebook post shortly before they were stolen saying that the grass-fed chickens would be harvested later in the year. On the day they were stolen, Kopley left the garage unlocked for about two hours and when he came back they were gone.

The farmer warns that the chicks will likely not survive for their entire life span if they are not kept in the proper conditions.
