Chelsea youth volunteer accused of sexual assault

BOSTON (AP) - A 22-year-old Boston-area man has pleaded not guilty to aggravated rape in the alleged sexual assault of a pre-teen boy at a youth center where he was a volunteer.

Vriky Santos of Chelsea was arraigned Friday in Chelsea District Court, where his bail was set at $10,000. He was ordered to stay away from children under 16, undergo GPS tracking and surrender his passport if he is released.

Prosecutors said the alleged assault occurred in July at Explorer Post 109 in the Chelsea Community Fitness Center. They said the boy later told friends and Chelsea school personnel.

Police arrested Santos on Thursday night after an investigation.

Police and prosecutors are investigating if any similar incidents took place. The Explorer post has agreed to close temporarily.

A message was left Friday for Santos' attorney.
