Charlestown community torn over Christmas display

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – Inflatable snowmen, Santas, and snow globes can be found in almost every neighborhood during the holiday season; however, not everyone is a fan of the giant lawn decorations.

In Charlestown, Thompson Square is adorned with Christmas-themed decorations, including a Christmas tree courtesy of Boston Mayor Tom Menino and the City of Boston.

Thompson Square also has several inflatables which were set up by a private member of the community who wanted to give families a place to spend time during the holidays.

Unfortunately, not everyone is in love with the display.

There is a small group of people that are not happy with the festive décor. They are calling the scene "offensive" and "dangerous."

The display operator has made adjustments in order to accommodate those that oppose the display, but do you agree with the opposition? Or do you think the group is acting like Scrooge?

If you would like to donate to the display, which is being run by a gas-powered generator, contact j1713m@gmail.com.
