Cellucci remembered at funeral Mass

BOSTON (AP) — Mourners have remembered former Gov. Argeo Paul Cellucci during a funeral Mass in his hometown of Hudson.

Mourners at Friday's service at St. Michael Parish Church included former governors Mitt Romney and William Weld.

Cellucci died Saturday at age 65, and the late Republican has since been praised for working across the aisle in his heavily Democratic state.

His daughters remembered him for treating people the same whether he met them at Dunkin' Donuts or the White House.

Cellucci was elected to the state House of Representatives in 1977.

He became governor in 1997 and served in that role until 2001, when he became ambassador to Canada.

Cellucci disclosed in 2011 that he had ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and his daughters said he displayed dignity while living with the disease.
