Updated:WALPOLE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- One confirmed case of pertussis (whooping cough) was confirmed at an elementary school in Walpole.
On Wednesday, the Walpole schools superintendent stated that the case was reported at the Boyden Elementary School. Medical personnel at the school have been working with the state Department of Public Health on the issue.
A letter about whooping cough was sent to parents of all students at the school, and the parents of classmates of the impacted student received a more detailed letter, the superintendent said.
It is believes that no other students in the Walpole school system have been exposed, and a DPH official said that the schools are past the point of contagion for other students and staff.
