Carver woman, daughter, die in Plymouth crash

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — The victims of a fatal car crash in Plymouth last weekend have been identified as a Carver woman and her adult daughter.

Capt. John Rogers said Tuesday that 64-year-old Susan Macchi and 24-year-old Juliet Macchi died in the head-on crash just after midnight Sunday. The elder woman, who was driving, was pronounced dead at the scene. The younger woman died at a hospital.

Police think the victims' car drifted into the opposite lane and collided with a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old Kingston man.

That man has not been publicly identified because the crash remains under investigation.

He was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Police do not think alcohol was involved, but witnesses said roads were wet after a heavy downpour.
