Carver residents warned after recent spike in thefts from cars

CARVER (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) Police in Carver are warning residents about a recent hike in thefts involving unlocked cars.

Investigators say thefts from unlocked cars have occurred over the past few weeks in the areas of Wenham Road, Silva Street, Purchase Street, North Main, and Forest Street.

A Carver Police officer attempted to stop a person of interest in the thefts on Tuesday morning at about 2:30 a.m. in the area of Main Street and Route 58. However, the man reportedly fled upon the officer's approach. Police say the man was dressed in all black and riding a bike at the time. He is described as a black man in his 20's.

Residents are reminded to lock their car doors and keep their valuables out of sight.
