Entertainment Weekly reported that viewers have a couple more years to watch new episodes of the cult hit.

After eight years, the show about Finn, his best friend and adoptive brother Jake and their travels in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo will end after nine seasons in 2018.

Deadline reported that "Adventure Time" content will continue on the network in the form of miniseries, specials and the final ninth season.

"Adventure Time was a passion project for the people on the crew who poured their heart into the art and stories," creator Pendleton Ward said. "We tried to put into every episode something genuine and telling from our lives, and make a show that was personal to us, and that had jokes too! I'm really happy that it connected with an audience for so long. It's a special thing, I think."

The show debuted in 2010 and has won six Emmys. According to The Hollywood Reporter, numerous celebrity guests have been on the show, including Matthew Broderick and Neil Patrick Harris.

"Adventure Time changed the definition of what a kids' TV series could be, and it's had a resounding impact upon popular culture around the world," Cartoon Network chief content officer Rob Sorcher said. "Cartoon Network Studios is proud to have brought together this group of brilliant artists and animators who helped make Adventure Time one of the most critically acclaimed TV series of a generation."

The show is currently in its eighth season.
