Carly Copley celebrates 7th birthday

BOSTON — Carly Copley celebrated her seventh birthday Sunday with a party, snacks and a cake made for for canines.

The Fairmont Copley Plaza, where Carly lives, hosted the party for its canine ambassador and opened the invitation to the public.

Boston 25 News Anchor Vanessa Welch read the book "Catie Copley" to guests, the story of the original Fairmont Copley Plaza canine.

Among those who attended was the puppy from Andover who ate a discarded opioid in October. The hotel invited Zoey and her family to help lift their spirits following her being hospitalized for the opioid overdose. They surprised her with a care package of treats and toys.

"She's doing great, mischievous as ever," said Peter Thibault, Zoey's owner.

Fairmont Copley Plaza asked guests to bring donations for the Animal Rescue League’s Boston Shelter in lieu of gifts.
