Carjacking victim: Doughty killed Peabody couple for giving family member heroin

BOSTON — As police across the country look for any sign of murder suspect Wes Doughty, there’s a wanted sign above the Roxbury liquor store he stopped at Wednesday night.

“Purchased a beer and half a pint of E&J,” Hollywood Liquors’ Ramon Genao said.

While that was happening, surveillance video shows 64-year-old Ken Metz enter a pizza shop two blocks from the liquor store, desperate for help.

Mentz told the employees Wes Doughty carjacked him at knife-point in the town of Middleton -- 20 miles away.

“He did say he wasn't going to harm me after I was cooperating with him. And I told him my wife's situation and that I had four kids and eight grandkids and he said, ‘I can't kill you,’" Mentz later told FOX25.

During the three hours Mentz was a prisoner in the back seat of his own car, he says Doughty confessed to killing 37-year-old Mark and 39-year-old Jennifer O'Connor in Peabody over the weekend.

Mentz says he also told him why.

“He said he killed them because they gave heroin to his godfather. He said his godfather was really loopy and he didn't want him to be addicted to heroin,” Mentz explained.
