• Car strikes possible bear in Greenfield

    GREENFIELD, Mass. (AP) — State police say two people were taken to the hospital after their car struck what they think was a bear on Interstate 91 on the Greenfield-Deerfield line.

    Police say the southbound vehicle struck a large and dark animal they think was a bear at about 9 p.m. Thursday.

    The occupants of the car were taken by ambulance to a hospital as a precaution, although their injuries are considered minor.

    As for the animal, it ran into the woods.

    Police and animal control officers searched for it, but did not find anything.
