CapeFLYER to extend service through Columbus Day

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – The CapeFLYER weekend train service from Boston to Cape Cod will be extended through the Columbus Day holiday, officials announced Sunday.

According to the Massachusetts Dept. of Transportation, the MBTA, and the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority, the weekend rail service to Cape Cod has proven successful and has attracted a total of 11,031 customers since Memorial Day weekend.

The CapeFLYER service was originally scheduled to stop on Labor Day; however, the rail line has provided cost effective, efficient, and enjoyable travel to the Cape and will continue into the fall, Gov. Deval Patrick said.

The rail service has also helped reduce traffic congestion to Cape Cod which typically spikes during the late spring and summer months.
